Truth in advertising in England --- No more holidays by name
In America, for the most part, holidays are named so that people can know why their banks are closed and why they get their three day weekends. You have great names like
Labor Day
Memorial Day
Presidents Day
Thanksgiving Day
In England, We get
May Bank Holiday (1st Monday in May)
Spring Bank Holiday (Last Monday in May)
August Bank Holiday (Last Monday in August)
Boxing Day (December 26)
Lets not confuse people with why we are having a holiday. That would distract the people from the real reason they like these days anyhow. Free time off from work.
America Should start too. So this year lets celebrate
October Non-Bank Holiday (Oct 31)
November Bank Holiday (Third Thursday)
January Bank Holiday (Jan 1)
December Commercial Renewal Holiday (December 25)
4th of July ( Oh wait this one has already started)
and so on...
The list is not exhaustive... It is meant for illustrative purposes chances are I'll get comments suggesting more

Does Sentimental value depreciate over time?
Just had a thought.... If an item that has a high sentimental value, does the value depreciate over time.
Think about your grandfather's Victoria Cross he earned for his service in WWI. The Sentimental value has definately depreciated when you sell it off on "under the hammer." or cash in the attic.

Enter the dragon
If you have ever met my wife Shahrzad, you would think of her as a kind and courteous person. But unleash her in the Wii and she goes nuts... We were playing tennis on the Wii last night, and she was running all around the room, and shoving me out of the way so she could make her shots. She has real competitive streak in her, and the Wii brings it out big time.
Nintendo Excercise Plan
My Mate Adam loaned me his Nintendo Wii this week, and my wife and I have been having a go at the games.
In comparison to my 360, the games are not quite as good, but the interface is revolutionary. You do get the ocasional wierdness where the system misinterprets your input, but all-in-all the interface is a revolution in gaming.
This game system really gets you out of your seat and moving.

Movies with too many big stars always suck.
Ever notice that the more big stars that you throw at a movie, the worse it gets?
Last evening I happened upon another in the line of crappy megastar overload movies
Short Cuts (1993)

Eshgh Box 360
The persian word for love is Eshgh....
I got a 360 over the weekend and when my daughter tries to say its name instead of xbox she says eshgh Box.
Kinda appropriate considering how much attention it demands...
